I made these years ago, haven't recently so looked up the recipe. If you like chocolate, there's great and easy cookies to make from cake mix. It's a semi-scratch method for baking.

This recipe is for chocolate crunch cookies -

1 Box Devil's Food cake mix

    2 Eggs

    1/3 cup Vegetable oil

    1/3 cup powdered sugar

(you can also add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, it gives it more a cookie taste but I prefer more a brownie taste)

    Preheat oven to 375F/190C

    • Mix together cake mix, 2 eggs and vegetable oil until well mixed -- (powdered sugar comes later)
    • Take powdered sugar and spread it in on a plate
    • Then using a tablespoon, take a heaping amount of mix, tamp it down a little bit to make a ball-shape and drop each each ball in the powdered sugar, and roll it around gently to make a ball shape - and cover each ball on the outside with the powdered sugar. You can do them one at a time, or set the balls on a plate and do them all together.
    • You add the powdered coating to all the cookie balls then set them on a cookie sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart. If you only have one cookie sheet, you'll do them one smaller batch at a time until all are cookied - but note, you need to let each batch cool in place before removing from the cookie sheet. (You can also place parchment paper on the cookie sheet to avoid sticking.)
    • Once you've got the sheet ready, put it into the 375F/190C preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Check on them after 8 minutes. Make sure to let each batch cool for a good 5 minutes, let them cool well before removing from the cookie sheet. They may come out looking a little underdone, and they will have cracked all over the surface, and that's the look you are going for, they're crinkly looking white powder sugar and chocolate.

    Some options -

    • you could add little mini chocolate chips to the mix for a chocolate chocolate crinkle cookie, or some pecans or walnuts for a different chewy cookie.

And note, the larger the balls you make, the larger the cookie is, so if you make them a bit larger you will need a minute or two more baking time
