Most people believe that flax seeds are automatically better to consume than sesame seeds for their health benefits, but actually they are both have their benefits. The comparison of both of them are quite similar.
Per 1 ounce :
Calories: Flaxseed 152 / Sesame 160
Fiber: Flaxseed 7.8g/ Sesame 3.3g
Protein: Flaxseed 5.2g/ Sesame 5g
Monounsaturated Fat: Flaxseed 2.1g/ Sesame 5.3g
Both flaxseed and sesame seeds contain a higher amount of calories.
Both have similar amount of carbohydrates.
Both contain Lignans, although Sesame is best known for the source.
Both can help lower the risk of brest cancer as they work similar to estrogen.
Both similar amounts of:
Vitamin C
Vitamin A
Vitamin E
Vitamin K
Riboflavin
Vitamin B6
Niacin
Both high in calcium.
Both lower bad cholesterol.
Both rich in antioxidants.
Flaxseeds however:
May reduce blood pressure
Reduces heart disease the most
Omega-3 fatty acids ALA (Alpha Linoleic Acids)
Sesame Seeds:
More Omega-6 fatty acids (Linoleic Acids)
Reduces inflammation & oxidative stress
Reduces muscle damage
Increases the amount of aerobic capacity
In reality both have their own source of benefits although, they do share lots of the same amount of nutrients in comparison. It's more so what you want to use them for. Want more Omega-3? Go the Flaxseed route. Want to work on your athletic performance? Try the Sesame seed route.
