Do bay leaves make a difference?
Many soup and stew recipes call for a bay leaf. I always forget to pick them up from the grocery store, but is it worth remembering?

I think they do. Like you, I never had them around so I never used them. Bought some in the spring and they do add a nice flavor. I especially like them in split pea soup. I make it fairly often (super quick and easy in my instant pot), and when I ran out of bay leaves I really missed them! I think it is worth giving them a try -- especially if you like split pea soup!
