Which hard candies are best to treat dry mouth?

There are medicines available to treat dry mouth, but my doctor actually recommended candies to treat my moderate dry mouth. I was over the moon with that particular prescription! But now I'm wondering which kinds are best. Some are going to be too sugary to be healthy for my teeth, and some are going to be too mild to help.

  1. Luden's Throat Lozenges, Wild Cherry flavor are effective for dry mouth - they contain Pectin that's soothing to the mouth and throat, and add a good amount of moisture. And Werther's Original hard caramel candies are good too, very soothing for a dry mouth and throat with that buttery flavor. Both though, you need to watch the amount of sugar - each single Luden's drop has 3.9 g carbs, and Werther's has about the same for one piece.  I get the Luden's in a package of 90 for under $5 at Walmart and Target, and the Werther's you can find most anywhere.

You might also want to increase your vitamin A intake. And I'd also suggest drinking a glass of water when you wake up in the morning, along with some fruit - that can help moisturize your system.

Jolly Rancher might be a good option too, but they have about a gram more sugar per piece.
