How can I develop a sophisticated palate?

Notes of blackberry, ash, or violet. Citrus and honeysuckle, flint and caramel. I do not taste them when I drink wine! But I'm sure that sommeliers are not making up flavors just for fun. The flavors must be in there somewhere. Can I train my tongue, too?
