  1. Monopoly is a very divisive game - some love it, some hate it. "Roll the dice and move the mice" games where random chance determine which opportunities you have are not everyone's cup of tea. 

    There is only one advantage to be had in being the banker in Monopoly, and then only if you are playing with a sufficiently unscrupulous group.  Because the best way to win at Monopoly is to cheat, and there is no better position to cheat from than the Banker.  Every exchange of cash goes through your hands, and so you can short change people and slip yourself an extra $500 when the opportunity presents.  

    It is no guarantee of victory, but it definitely gives you the edge.  Of course, I would never engage in such behavior myself! That would be wrong.
