Are Cornish pasties worth the hype?
My friends have been hyping up Cornish pastries to me recently, but they don't sound that great to me. Are they really that good?

My Grandfather was Cornish, and I grew up eating my mom's pasties (yes "pasties" not "pastries," at least in my house). The lore is that these were lamb, potato and vegetable pies baked, wrapped in a towel, and placed in a lunch bucket before the men went for a day in the tin mines. At lunch break, they'd come out into the sunlight, break open the still-steaming hot pies and have a hearty meal before going back underground.
Growing up, they were what we called stick-to-your-ribs food. Filling, and great for leftovers. If you've only ever had a chicken pot pie, and think that's basically what a meat pie is, you should definitely check it out!
