Cotton.  Cotton fabrics have some drawbacks, but the lighter, thinner fabrics made of cotton are perfect for summer's heat. Cotton includes lightweight (non-stretching) denim and chambray.

Linen is another good summer fabric- light, crisp and flattering.

Rayon is also considered quite cool- made of cotton, wood fibers and, usually, some synthetic fibers. it is another summer special.

Silk is also considered a summer fabric- best Hawaiin shirts are made of silk.

The drawback to each of these fabrics is care.

They will wrinkle, shrink, fade color  and resist tossing into a regular load of wash-  but they are all quite cool fabrics for hot weather.

    Good luck.
