What are the allergy precautions to the different covid vaccines? My kid has allergies and I'm concerned that he could have a reaction when he finally gets his shots.

My youngest has severe egg allergies, so he can't take the regular flu vaccine. He has other allergies, too, and I don't know much about potential allergens for the covid vaccines. Are all the covid vaccines made the same way? If not, will we have the option to choose one with the lowest risk of allergies?

This is a question for your son's licensed health care provider.  Any other medical advice you receive in answer to this question will be worth exactly what you paid for it-  nothing.  Even if a licensed health care provider answered questions on Sage, that person would be bound by the terms of their license, which mentions things  like "after consultation" and "knowing about medical conditions of patient" etc.

So, please contact your son's licensed health care provider, and ask that person- who is the one who can fully and legally answer your question.

  2. I have severe allergies, and haven't had any of the vaccines because of that and an existing health issue, am concerned about the risk, but was also advised by my health practitioner. And you need to do the same, talk to your healthcare professional to get more information.

The vaccines are different. The only current traditional vaccine, made the way others are, is the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The Pfizer and Moderna are mRNA vaccines, new types of vaccines that create in your body a reaction to educate the body's immune response to fight against this new virus. That's just a simple explanation and only meant as basic information - you need to have personal counsel regarding your child's medical history to determine what would be best for your child.

The CDC is actively monitoring for any reactions to the vaccines, so information is available to professionals, so you need to obtain more direct and personal information and talk with a healtcare professional.
