What is considered "normal" in terms of arguments in a relationship?

If you have big blowout types of arguments with your spouse but both of you still love each other and always get through it, is there a point where there are just "too many"? Even though you get through it together, at what point does it deteriorate the relationship so much that it all just ends up in unhappiness?
