When is the right time to send a "Get Well Soon" card?

Is it more appropriate to send the card to someone who has a case of the sniffles or terminal cancer? Or is it somewhere in between? I have accumulated quite a few "Get Well Soon" cards, but never sent any because I couldn't find the right moment to put them in the mail.

  1. Great question, Sarah! Your thoughtfulness is evident.

Aside from a terminal diagnosis, sending a Get Well Soon card is a kind sentiment to let someone know they're on your mind and your heart, whether they're experiencing a broken arm, a broken heart, or in treatment for cancer. Get Well Soon can mean so much.

For terminal diagnoses, though, it is more appropriate to send a Thinking of You, Sympathy, or a blank card in an art style they might enjoy, with a note inside to your loved one sharing how much they mean to you, an inside joke, or a word of comfort.

If the cards you've accrued don't say exactly the sentiment you want to express, note that with your inside message with a laugh! Remember, everyone loves getting mail that isn't a bill or advertisement. Go on, send those cards! It is guaranteed to make their day during a typically mundane chore.

    Happy mailings!
