What is the best way to land a remote job?

Remote jobs are really popular right now, and I know a lot of companies are making the move to stay permanently fully or partially remote.

Are there any secrets to getting an interview for a remote job? I've read a lot on Google, but I've never actually heard anyone's real-life story or opinion. I've applied for many, many remote jobs that I'm qualified for and haven't gotten any interviews yet.

The best way to get any interview is to make a personal connection with the people doing the hiring.  Because so many applications are being reviewed by bots that scan resumes for keywords, you can't just submit a CV and hope for the best.  When you find a position you'd like to have, do a little more digging and find a way to connect with someone at the company.  Stalk the company on LinkedIn - did anyone there go to the same school as you? Live in the same neighborhood/city/country? Share a common interest?  Find someone that you legitimately share a connection with, and reach out to them.  Explain that you're looking for a position at their company, and would they be willing to have a short conversation by email or phone about the culture there?  Many, many people (not all!) will take the time if you approach them that way.  Then, they can help you navigate the hiring process, including getting your CV to the right people and, if you're super lucky, maybe even giving you an internal recommendation!

    Good luck!
