Is it too late to join Twitter?

Twitter has been on the scene for 14 years and - believe it or not - there are still some people who have never joined! Most accounts seem to be very well established. Is it possible to join now and build a worthwhile page? Or has that ship sailed?

I don't think it is ever too late, depending on what your goals and expectations are. I joined Twitter in 2012 and used it primarily for my marketing job. I recently rejoined for my personal account, and have been much more active around civic participation and current events. If your goal is to have hundreds of thousands of followers quickly in order to become a major influencer, you will likely be disappointed, as it takes time to build those levels of followers. But my following has been building slowly and steadily, and I learn a lot from the people I follow and enjoy the interaction. I follow some celebrities that I like and occasionally get a like or a comment from them, which is fun! I would say go for it, there is not much to lose if you find it isn't for you.
