Do you think self-driving vehicles are safe? Please elaborate why.

Over the past few years, it seems that more and more car manufacturers are looking into self-driving technology for their cars. I feel like this concept might be difficult for most people to grasp and adjust to if it actually becomes popular.

What are some reasons that support the safety of self-driving vehicles?

  1. I don't know if they're safe now, but I think that over time, self-driving cars will be safer than cars that aren't self-driving. Many accidents occur because of human error, so as self-cars become more advanced and learn how to better communicate with other cars on the road, they will be able to avoid many of the current causes of accidents. On the other hand, accidents will probably still occur, but at a lower rate. The accidents that do occur will probably be a higher magnitude of damage.
