Is Hitler's "Eagle's Nest" vacation retreat a popular tourist destination among people who aren't Nazis? Is it weird at all that an aspiring U.S. politician would visit there on vacation?

I was way too young when I was in Berlin to understand all the histroy and visit all the historic places. I've always wondering whether Hitler's "Eagle's Nest" vacation retreat a popular tourist destination among people who aren't Nazis. And I also really wonder why an aspiring politician is visiting that place for vacation - just tadly absurd.

That would be a pretty bizzare political stunt, I agree. I had not heard of such a thing.

Visiting Auschwitz or Birkenau? Posting pictures over the caption 'never gain?'  Yes.  Eagle's Nest?  No.

Then I googled who you were talking about.  Given that that Congressman has a penchant for racist dog whistles and for stunts, I was not surprised.
