Certainly Tiktok has challenges in the West with current anti-China sentiment, but the user base is so much broader. My crystal ball says that if it folds, it will be a combination of factors - I can't think of very many apps / platforms that fell out of favor because of country of origin, or privacy concerns. If people were really concerned about privacy no one would use facebook and everyone's search engine would be duck duck go!
That said, remember Vine? Sharing short video clips easily is something people want, today. If that demand persists and no one does it better/ faster/ cheaper Tiktok might avoid becoming the next last big thing.
