Is it normal to be asked to do an extensive skill test on a short turnaround when interviewing for a new position?

I am currently in the midst of the interview process with a digital marketing company. They have asked that I complete 4 writing samples, totaling about 7000-10,000 words in a week. They did not ask for me to present any writing samples that I already had. Is this normal?
