In real life, are most carwashes being used to launder money, like on Breaking Bad?
I just streamed the Breaking Bad movie, and I couldn't help notice the fact that there are multiple carwash places (more than needed) just in the same area - almost like Dunkin Donuts in New England. I am wondering if these places are usually used to launder money or "cooking" drugs or whatever?

With anything you have your good and bad apples, so no not all car washes. If you really want to see a shell businesss look into ‘Sleepy Mattress’ stores.
Most car washes bring fronts for money laundering? No. Of course, some of them might be fronts.
Mom and Pop type businesses are prime contenders. Bars, restaurants, convenience stores and pawn shops are by far the most common.
Flower shops, payday advance loan places, jewelry shops, especially ones that buy old gold, junk yards, convenience stores and nightclubs are common. Some car washes may very well be fronts as well.
