  1.

Orange is particularly known for its vitamin C content. However, it contain a range of other plant compounds and antioxidants that may reduce inflammation and work against disease.

People with gastroesophageal reflux disease may experience an increase in symptoms such as heartburn and regurgitation when consuming citrus fruits. This is due to their high acid content.

Oranges contain no sodium, which helps keep a person below their daily limit. On the other hand, a cup of orange juice can boost daily potassium intake by 14%.

It's best to limit yourself to no more than 8 ounces per day. Even better, if you can, opt for whole oranges over juice whenever possible.

    1. Health, especially freedom from scurvy.
    2. Pleasure, especially if you can get them right off the tree.

When I worked in the groves as a kid, moving irrigation pipes between middles every half hour, I had time to pick, peel and eat a fresh, ripe Valencia orange while we waited for the next move.  I ate oranges all day, and it did me a world of good.  :-)
