Should I get short nails for volleyball?

I want to get nails for my birthday but volleyball tryouts are coming soon. I decided that getting short nails would be okay. I really want to get them but I’m scared that I’ll get kicked out. I’ve worn long nails before and played volleyball and I did fine. But since this is tryouts I’m scared.
