Is it worth paying to have a TV mounted?
I want to mount a new tv in my room and I don't know if I want to pay the extra money to have it mounted by a professional. It is just basic drywall and I have all the tools I would need. I am just worried that the instructions will be far too over simplified and I dont want to hurt my tv or my wall in the process.

Good question! If it's a large tv (say 45" or up) and the cost would be $100 or less, then i would say "yes". Here's why: I have a 50" and a 40" side by side mounted on a wall...each with an XBOX 360 and an XBOX ONE connected (yes, i'm a gamer). Although i'm handy with tools, i REALLY REALLY wanted them to align properly. That would have been the case even if i didn't have 2 TV's next to each other (and i wanted a MINIMUM of holes in my drywall). Plus, where i was mounting them was somewhat awkward and i thought it would be better to have someone else doing all the "leaning over". Glad i hired someone to do it...and being as they were professionals in the biz...i got lots of great tech tips to boot!,

I considered hiring someone when I installed my very large tv, but was able to do it with the help of a friend. I was also worried about the damage to the wall, but as long as you have a stud finder and the other tools you'll need, I would say professional services are slightly overkill for this one. Unless, as Jeff notes, you have special circumstances / need it in a slightly awkward space / haven't got access to a second pair of hands easily. I absolutely would have paid someone rather than do it by myself!
