Can a quiet person be narcissistic

I was teamed up with someone for a project, I always saw her as quiet and reserved and doesn’t make a lot of friends but I was surprised when she started displaying some narcissistic behavior, she was always second guessing every decision I make and always claims hers is superior. She’s always trying to be front and center  and do jobs that have been delegated to someone else on the team. This is quite different from what I know about narcissism because when I tell someone else what she’s doing, they all feel I’m exaggerating because she’s quiet. Help, I don’t know how to handle her
