I want to participate in a TNR program. How should I set up my feral cat recovery area?
TNR (trap-neuter-release) programs are exactly what they sound like: you trap a feral/stray cat, take it to a veterinarian for neutering and tagging, then release it. It's a proven effective way to gradually reduce the population without triggering the vacuum effect. The cats need to recover from the surgery for about a day, and since not all veterinarians are willing to house the cat at their clinics, recovery should be done at home. What setup should I have? Obviously I'll keep the cat away from any animals or humans, but what else should the area have? How much space should the cat have during recovery? This recovery area will be outside and I live in Los Angeles.

Once a feral cat is trapped, it should stay in the trap during the entire process. Just make sure you cover the trap with a blanket to calm the cat. You will also want a tarp under the traps to catch any messes and provide insulation. Check out this video to get detailed step by step instructions.
