How can I help my child take her pill medication?

My daughter needs to take daily medication and as she is growing the dosage she needs to take is changing. Previously, the pharmacist has been able to create a liquid compound of her medication but due to recent changes, she will need to be taking the solid pill form (we cannot crush/break it). This is creating a problem as she is intimidated by, and uncomfortable with, swallowing pills. What are some things I could do at home to help her overcome this barrier to taking her medication?

We started my daughter out with her pill in applesauce or yogurt and she was able to make the switch to just water eventually!
