Generic advice:  In the wintertime there's nothing like flannel sheets for keeping you warm.  In the summertime cotton is best, but check the thread count: more threads per inch is better.  Some people love linen sheets, but they are very expensive.  Avoid satin sheets!  They look cool and are delicious for the first 30 seconds; after that, they get hot & sticky.

  4. Cotton/polyester blend have become a favorite - they are soft enough to be very comfortable. And as much as I love 100% cotton sheets, the cotton blend don't wrinkle madly like cotton does. Once you get them folded and stored, it's like they are ironed. So, that's my preference. After that, the 100% cotton of course, they are wonderfully cool and refreshing - but they do wrinkle a lot. And just a note, if you like the feel of old sheets, the softer sheets, then a 300-350 count thread is what that is. Anything under 300 count is going to be a rougher feeling sheet, so at least 300 to 400 count..
