What is the best way to store large amounts of survival food?
I am well-prepared for an emergency and have a stock of specially-made survival food. It would be catastrophic if I were in an emergency situation and I discovered my food had spoiled due to poor storage. It's all factory sealed in airtight plastic buckets, but where should I keep it? How often should I check on it for spoilage?

Cool, dark, no direct sunlight, moisture-controlled, and placess where the air circulates would be the best spaces for storing survival foods. In basements, closets, below stairs, in a spare room closet. But away from any sources of water or a lot of sunlight. You want to keep the temps as moderately varying as possible, and not a lot of exposure to moisture.
Don't store survival foods in a garage, attic, or outside shed - they would be exposed to moisture and temperature changes that could impact the quality of the food. And especially do not store in places that get hot - like attics or next to a furnace. And don't store in airtight containers like plastic bins or coolers - air needs to circulate around them so no moisture can build up, or mildew, mold or insects can get at them.
If you have a finished or partially finished basement then using a closet or metal shelving in the area will serve well for storage.
