Why did Yahoo/Verizon decide to shutdown Yahoo Answers after all this time?
I just heard that Yahoo Answers is shutting down. I remember using it back in the aughts, but as far as I know, it's still going strong. What was Yahoo's/Verizon's reasoning for shutting down the service with such short notice? Money? Or is the anonymity and lack of expert vetting to blame? It's still a lively community.

Yahoo Answers has a lot of problems but personally I suspect Verizon is discontinuing it for two reasons: 1) It's not making them any money. 2) Cancel Culture. What business today wants to risk being seen as supporting a platform with "offensive" content? And in any open-access platform that is 15 years old, you're going to find controversial content if you go looking for it, no matter what your gender, race or politics.
