Are tarot reversals always negative?

Standard tarot cards are a mixed bag of good and bad imagery. When reversed, there seem to be a lot more negative connotations, but is this always the case? I imagine a reversed Ten of Swords would be the opposite of rock bottom/failure/disaster. Tarot readers, thoughts on reversals?

  1. An important an excellent question!

Reading Tarot is like reading a classic novel. Sometimes it's really clear what is meant, but a lot of themes are open for interpretation. Not every Tarot reader reads the reversed cards as "negative" at all and many don't read cards as reversed. These are two different things with varying answers.

Let's say I am holding a card - The Magician came to mind.  A reversed Magician may mean keep your eyes up, be aware that you're being flim-flammed, or it could be don't let your skills get ahead ofy our wisdom or don't be taken in by someone's claims or hey, there's a person in your life utterly ripping you off or you follow trends in health and spirituality, but is your life getting better? or a million other things. Some might be negatives, others might be not what you thought you were doing.

I read the cards all as having questions for meanings, rather than answers, so reversed cards aren't different than upright. Am I making the right choices for me right now? Am I getting the results I want? What's the next step?

As you think about how the Tarot works for you, you'll decide on the way you want to read the cards and then the answer to this question for you will become apparent..
