Will yesterday's occupation of the Capitol change anything?
For reference, a large group of Trump supporters - some armed - stormed the US Capitol, incited violence, and caused major destruction yesterday. Whether you consider this an insurrection or a protest, it was a scene of chaos and disorder that stirred up outrage across the country. This was the first Capitol breach since the War of 1812. But after all we Americans have been through, does this change anything, historically speaking? Will this be just a footnote in the textbook, or is this the beginning of a whole chapter? Thoughts?

I think it has already changed everything. Mitch McConnell, for instance, has now repudiated tRump, and many Republicans as well. And now that the violence tRump has been threatening all along has actually broken out, I don't think any sane person can ignore the threat of a second Civil War if this death cult is allowed to continue festering. I believe the "flipping" of Georgia in both recent elections was the result of an increasing number of citizens seeing tRump for what he is: a would-be fascist dictator. I'm pretty sure the majority of Americans are not too keen on fascism. Unfortunately, some think it's just dandy; and they are not going to be easy to reeducate. Yesterday's debacle at the Capitol forced us all to consider the consequences of deciding this using what Giuliani actually called for: "Trial By Combat".
