Where can I find a dictionary of rare words?
I recently came across the word acatalepsy. Where can I find more rare and highly specific words? Trawling the dictionary would take forever, and for words that have such unique definitions, a thesaurus is no help. By definition, rare words are hard to find!

Not a dictionary per se, but I susbscribe to Word Genius which emails me a cool word every day. :)
Open the complete Oxford English Dictionary to almost any page and start scanning (with your magnifying glass). I guarantee you will find magnificently obscure words! I have a friend who writes poems about such words -- it's a great way to build and strengthen your vocabulary... and fun, too!
