How to turn a full bathroom into a half bath?

I have a full bathroom attached to my kitchen. There's really no reason for a shower just off the kitchen when there is a perfectly appropriate shower upstairs. The full bathroom is terribly outdated, so it's ready for a remodel. How do I change this room into a powder room? It's not large, but I don't know what to do with the plumbing and space left by the shower.

While you can likely do a great deal of this work yourself, you should probably get a plumber to help you with water and sewer lines inside walls and floors;  discovering when you smell the mold and see the water damage you made a mistake is expensive.

But, what you will do is remove the shower enclosure- unlikely to be a fiberglass mold, but full-on tiling.  If the former- your lucky day.  If the latter, lotta work and you need to be careful and use dustmasks and perhaps visqueen to block off the bathroom from the rest of the house while you work.

Once the shower is demolished, turn off the water to the house.  Open the wall at the shower faucet and handles, so the water lines can be cut and capped, then do the same at the drain.  If you do not know what you are doing, you need a plumber.  But, once the plumber does this part, you should be okay as long as you don't mind hard work.

Remove all old cement board or even lathe and plaster- depending on how old this bath is- exposing the studs.  Then put new drywall up, attaching to studs.   Tape and sand, paint if desired. Frame in a doorway, drywall as necessary, then hang door and place in shelving brackets and shelves. Congratulations, you have a new linen closet.
