Paper wrapping or gift bag?

My wife says wrapping paper is the best way to give a gift, I think it's gift bags. We have this conversation every year and can't come to an agreement. Help settle this for us.

I'm on your side. Bags! They're reusable, so they're much more eco-friendly than even recycled paper. Cheaper in the long run, too. There are decorative gift bags that are still getting passed around in my family after more than a decade. Can anyone say that about wrapping paper?

And, they do a better job of obscuring the shape of the gift. If you have a present-snooper in your life, bags are better for keeping them guessing. (Tip: if you're giving someone a gift that could be identified by shaking, throw in a few jingle bells to throw snoopers off the scent!)

That said, there are some times when wrapping paper is preferable. When Santa comes to my house, he wraps things in paper because he knows that I always use bags. Paper-wrapped gifts do ship and travel better, too, so this is a good option if you won't be able to present your gifts in person.
