Is it possible to network on LinkedIn if you have no connections?
As a fledgling freelancer, I have a LinkedIn account with nobody to link to. Is LinkedIn even worth my time if nobody’s looking at my page?

Yes, but it takes a little brass tacks. Generally when I see a person I want to connect with, I find something in common with them and write a note that says this (you are welcome to borrow it):
Hello -
My name is XYZ. I see that we have a company/industry/connection/acquaintaince/something in common. I'd like to connect to you here on LI.
Sincerely,
XYZ
This generally works for me.
It's short, not creepy, not asking much and is plain about wanting to connect on this professional site. Rather than wanting to be casual friends or asking for a favor, I'm just building up connections on this site for connection building.
