Whatever happened to the Iraqi journalist who threw a shoe at George W. Bush in 2008? Did he get arrested? Is he still working as a reporter?

This was one of the more memorable events from the Iraqi war for me. I was just thinking about him and wondering if he was lauded in his country, and how his career has progressed since that day. People say all exposure is good exposure, but I'm not always sure of that.

Muntadhar al-Zaidi  has his own Wikipedia page if you're curious about what he's up to.

Apparently, he was sentenced to 3 years in jail; released after 8 months; and ran for the Iraqi Council of Representatives -- Iraq's unicameral legislature -- in 2018, but didn't get many votes.
