I'm planning on taking a trip to the UP later this summer. I'm a big fan of hiking and birding, so I anticipate spending plenty of time in national parks and wilderness areas. But I don't like camping, so I want to spend the nights in decent hotels in fun towns. Where should I go? The UP is pretty big and I want to hit the best spots. I have about a week for this road trip.
