If you'd like just a big bucket of assorted bricks, Walmart usually has a Black Friday sale on a box of 500 assorted bricks that takes the cost of down to about $0.06/brick (the usual price is about $0.10/brick!). Bust out the calculator to make sure you're getting a good deal per brick. Brickeconomy.com will take the guesswork out of it, but you'll have to know exactly what set you're looking for.

You could also try buying used Lego in bulk from ebay. They'll need to be cleaned, of course, but the price is really slashed this way if you're looking for a fast and cheap way to bulk up a Lego stash. Check your local facebook marketplace, too. Lots of people are dumping unloved sets, especially now before the holidays.

Finally, bricklink.com is an incredible resource for specific bricks. My kids (and my husband!) are Lego nerds and when they're looking for a specific set or piece, they can always find it on bricklink.

Whatever you do, don't be tempted to buy off-brand Legos. They are really, really awful!
