  1. How would you even define "perfection" in stone skipping?  If you threw a stone so that it skipped 10 times, the next time you'd be shooting for 11, and if you achieved that, then 12.  There is no chance of skipping the stone an infinite number of times, so there's always one better!  


    This is a good illustration of the adage that, "Perfect is the enemy of good."  Unachievable goals are the best kind.  


    Also the adage I made up to describe the difference between feeling good all the time and feeling better after being sick:  "Better is better than good!"
