What is going on with Mitch McConnell's hands?
Mitch McConnell was recently photographed with extremely discolored hands. They are very dark in color and are bandaged. It looks pretty serious, but he insists that there is nothing wrong. Any doctors have ideas what might be going on there?

Gruesome, aren't they. I saw a photo and tried to think of what he may have done, and for the life of me, the ideas I come up with are odd, indeed.
The bruising on the right hand is about total, with small bandages on the outer aspect. I noted less marking on the left hand, but saw some bruising around his mouth. Those appear yellowed, indicating the bruising is a few days- at least- old.
At McConnell's age, he is likely on blood thinners- at least baby aspirin- so it wouldn't take much of an injury to create frighteningly vivid and large bruising. But to explain their location, too, well, that's more difficult. He fell? Landed on his hand or with something on his hand? That about works, really- he tripped, fell and knocked a table or something over which then landed on his hand (and arm? who knows?) and smacked his face a bit, too.
I don't think we're going to be told- he's not being at all forthcoming to reporters who ask about it. But, he says he's fine, and so we have to just take his word for it.
