Is there a way to hide online status with Kids Messenger ?

I share a device with my kids. Whenever I'm using my phone, "my" status on Kid's Messenger appears as active, so my son's friends keep calling me. I don't mind sharing (it helps me keep tabs on his usage) I just don't want it to appear that my son is free to talk any time of day.
