  1. Karen, I used to take ballet classes 5 days a week, but I never wore pointe shoes.  I reached out to some friends and they had this to say:

"check out this article" The Dangers of Dancing on Dead Pointe Shoes—And 5 Ways to Prevent Injury

    "Dead shoes make dead feet"

"Please forgive the self-promotion, but this parent should know not only of the dangers of inadequate support, but also that Gaynor Mindens last 3-5 times longer than traditional paste shoes. Many families can't afford to replace pointe shoes so often, especially now that so many people have lost their jobs and businesses. And with many ballet companies and schools going under, now, more than ever, schools must try to retain their students and encourage people to dance. The expense of non-durable pointe shoes is a disincentive to participation in ballet."

"Her feet are not strong enough yet to support dancing so many hours on pointe. Because of this, her pointe shoes will “die” quickly. The stronger she gets -with time and good training, the longer the shoes will last.
At this moment, she needs new shoes often or injuries will set in -as explained by others above."

    I hope that helps!
