Why haven't I heard any buzz about the HBO show Doom Patrol? It's awesome!
I have burned through the first season and what has been released of the second season of Doom Patrol over the last two weeks, and I wish I'd done it sooner! I was relucatant at first, not knowing much about it, and generally thinking the DCU was not as strong as the MCU. The first thing I noticed was the talent of the cast is amazing - three names you're likely to know are Timothy Dalton, Alan Tudyk, and Brendan Fraser, and they live up to expectations. The rest of the cast is very strong as well.
The writing has been inspired or, perhaps, unshackled from the "PG-13" attitude of earlier superhero stories by the success of Deadpool, Logan, and The Boys - its a hard R. The show focuses on the trauma of the characters, both the heros and the villains, and the fact that the individuals are rarely only one of those two things.
Have you watched the show? Do you agree its pretty good, or were my expectations just so low that it looks better than it is?
