Is there a way to stop having my period?

I am currently on birth control, and my secondary objective with taking it (besides the obvious) is to skip my periods. However, this hasn't been working, as my body automatically begins menstruating even though I continue taking the actual pills and totally skip the sugar pills. Is there any way to change this and prevent myself from having a period?

  1. I'm not a doctor, and I haven't taken birth control pills so unfortunately I can't speak to that experience. However, in my personal experience, getting an IUD nearly completely stopped my periods. I got a Mirena IUD and about a year and a half in, my periods were mainly just spotting and that's it. I haven't used a tampon in over a year. My sister has a different brand (I don't recall which) but her periods stopped completely as well. I don't know if you're looking for only pill solutions, but if that's something you're interested in, I would highly recommend it.
