What kind of nut butters are good for people with peanut allergies?
I've never had to manage a food allergy before, and it turns out my youngest is very allergic to peanuts. He can eat almonds, though, so I'm wondering what kind of butters I could safely try with him.

Peanuts are not really nuts- they are legumes, a type of pea or bean. So you might want to monitor for allergies to other legumes, but peanut allergies are very common, one reason being that so many parents hold off on feeding peanut butter so long, rather than providing tastes of peanut butter earlier, thus rather "inoculating" against allergic reaction.
Nevertheless, peanuts aren't nuts, so what are called tree nuts should be fine. Walnuts, pecans, hazel nuts, cashews, almonds, pistachios, macadamias- if they grow on a tree as opposed to on a legume plant, they should be fine.
