  1. It stems from the psychology of Tribalism. Seeing "us" out in the world helps you to better solidify your bond to whatever candidate is being advertised.


    There's a flip side to that, too, as seeing signs of opposing candidates can also invoke the feeling of "them" and "other" so that you'll trigger a response of competition and (especially in this election cycle) anger towards the opposition. This then solidifies a bond to your chosen candidate, too, so it works both ways!
